Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens: Art in the Gardens
Art in the Gardens is celebrating 27 years of art, flowers, cuisine, and fine wines at the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens. It’s a sparkling, fun-filled day amidst the gorgeous summer blooms on the 47-acre property. As you stroll the paths in the gardens, you’ll find beautiful artwork, listen to great musical groups, and stop at booths to sample gourmet food, beer, and wine. You’ll find all kinds of cool artworks, from ceramics, glass, painting, sculpture, and textiles, to woodworking. Mingle with the artists and musicians, and sample a wide array of fine wines from around Mendocino County. Wine tasting tickets are available online or at the event. Craft brews are for sale with complimentary tastings on the Event Lawn, and food vendors will be scattered throughout the garden trails. Featured artist this year is realist painter Naomi Marino.
Music will include American roots, jazz, pop, soul, southern rock, blues, country, folk, and classic rock. The cuisine is quickly growing with Cowlicks Ice Cream, Croux and Company, Rhody’s Garden Cafe, Sugar Coated Catering on hand to tempt your taste buds (keep a look out as more are added!). Wine will be plentiful, with the opportunity to taste varietals from Bee Hunter Wine, Brassfield Estate Winery, Frey Vineyards, Graziano Family of Wines, Lichen Estate, Maple Creek Winery, McNab Ridge Winery, Murder Ridge Winery , Philo Ridge Vineyards, Powicana Farm, Terra Sávia Winery. This event is held rain or shine. General admission $20 in advance or $30 at the door ($5 junior admission tickets ages 6 to 16; Free for children under 5). A $25 additional fee covers wine tasting, and includes a complimentary keepsake tasting glass!
Mendocino Coast Garden Event for Kids
“Veggie Gardening for Kids” at the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens is happening from 9:00am to 12:30am on June 15. The Lil’ Sprouts Workshop is for children ages 5 to 10, and is a great introduction for kids with “budding green thumbs”. They’ll work and play while planting, nurturing, and harvesting in the organic vegetable garden. No experience necessary! Class cost is $15 for Gardens members (MCBG household memberships apply towards children or grandchildren in the same household); $20 for non-members (includes Gardens admission for the day).
